For this semester, the Sedgwick PTA has organized several after school clubs. Each club meets 10 times during the semester with volunteers supervising each club. In addition, enrollees have online access to games and worksheets for up to 50 hours of at home learning. The objective is to supplement in-school programs with after-school programs that is both enriching and fun.

We'll be hosting the following clubs:

  • Spelling Clubs - 1,500 words organized by rhyme. Learners play online to learn the words and meet one hour a week for a spelling bee.

The grade 1-3 Spelling Club meets on Tuesday at 2:30 in room 9 starting on Nov 1, 2005. The G4-5 Spelling Club meets on Wednesday at 3:30 in room 9 starting on Nov 2.

  • Journalism Clubs - Enrollees organize into groups to simulate a newspaper. Older children become group editors, and younger children are reporters, photographers, and artists.

Learners work online with games and worksheets to practice domains of writing. Learners meet weekly to write, edit, re-write, and publish the best works. Each child will write 4 pieces and the club will publish twice during the semester. The grade 4-5 club will include lessons on journalism history.

The grade 1-3 Writing Club meets at 2:30 in room 9 starting on Nov 1, 2005. The grade 4-5 Journalism Club meets at 3:30 in room 9 starting on Nov 2.

The fee is $50 per club.
